Since 1998/1999, the Euro Standard EN 1522/3 has been applied Europe-wide and replaced all previous standards regarding bullet resistant testing.
This standard applies to all bulletproof doors, windows, shutters, and all other bulletproof material.

Running alongside EN1522/3 is the glazing specification (also available in our Tech Spec section) EN1063. More often than not if the framing requirements state FB4, glazing would be expected to reach the BR4 standard; .44 Magnum calibre weapon.
Besides the type of weapon and the calibre, the EN1522/3 standard also defines the process of a ballistic testing. Classifications range from FB1 to FB7/FSG and can be seen in the accompanying document.
A key point during all tests is whether material or glass on the inside of the product splinters off. For this reason, the test results get the additional remark:
S =spall/splinters
NS =no spall/shatterproof
